Sandra Grosso is a Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist with over 25 years’ experience.
She was Clinical Service Lead in the Paediatric Acute Speech and Language Therapy Service at St Mary’s Hospital for more than 19 years, providing specialist feeding, swallowing and communication support for infants and children with complex needs.

I attended mediation feeling understandably anxious, but it very quickly became clear that I didn’t need to be. I had my secret weapon: Sandra Grosso. I have been working with Sandra for support with my stutter for approximately 3 years. Even though we are in different parts of the UK we meet online for weekly zoom sessions and at least once a year for a face to face catch up. Prior to this regular therapy with Sandra I had only had limited speech therapy support for my stutter. I didn’t have and I still don’t have any anxiety or confidence issues about my stutter as it is part of who I am. Therapy hasn’t changed my view of stuttering, but it has given me a better understanding of stuttering. I have found the handling techniques and strategies that I have learnt with Sandra to be the most helpful, as these have enabled me to communicate clearly and to say what I want to say, when I want to say it. Prior to this regular therapy, I found meeting new people would worsen my stutter, however this is now much improved. Now I stutter less, I speak more and I have grown in confidence. Since working with Sandra I have done a Q&A at the college I attended and at a local university where students could ask me questions about my stutter and I have set up a YouTube Channel where I discuss myself, my cerebral palsy, my stutter and my experiences on holiday, days out and at football matches. We just wanted to let you know that we’ve seen such a huge improvement. Our son now happily accepts purees, has started feeding himself with his hands, enjoys finger foods, and we’ve no longer seen any gagging.
